Meet Scott

Scott and His Eldest Son

Scott and His Eldest Son

Scott Heidepriem is a lifelong South Dakotan with roots all across our state from Custer to Miller to Sioux Falls. His skills are as varied as the state he’s served the past thirty years from garage band singer in high school (Aaron Barron anyone?) to golf course assistant greens keeper to States Attorney to State Senator and author. Scott’s journey also included a blind date back in 1985 with his future wife of twenty-four years, Susan, and the raising of their two sons Sam and Pete.

Scott’s political philosophy has always been driven by a belief that the best decisions are made from the political center. A consensus builder, respected by both political parties, Scott returned to politics in 2006 after a fifteen year break out of frustration that our leaders in Pierre were more concerned with scoring political points than they were with finding workable solutions to our state’s biggest challenges.

He believes in smart limited government, free enterprise and a solid commitment to improving our state’s education and job creation efforts. Scott recognizes that South Dakota government needs to live within its means and that the voters of South Dakota deserve open, honest government. He knows the challenges of a statewide race are daunting and that the only way he can be successful is to work harder than the rest of the field and rely on the faith of thousands of supporters like you.

“I would be honored to have the chance to earn your vote and support in this race. I love South Dakota and strongly believe it is the best place in the country to raise our children and care for our parents. I want to make State Government smaller and smarter and help create the kind of jobs that can keep our families out here on the prairie. Please join Susan’s and my effort today.”
