Poll shows SD Gov race is wide-open
Last week’s Rasmussen Reports poll on the South Dakota Governor’s race has provided some unprecedented energy and optimism for South Dakota Independents and Democrats. In recent history, a Democratic candidate has never been in the very competitive position that Scott Heidepriem now occupies.
This poll story comes on the heels of state campaign finance report filings which showed Scott Heidepriem raising nearly three times as much money as any Democratic candidate ever has in the year before the general election.
Scott is beating two of the top GOP candidates head-to-head and he trails the sitting Lt. Gubernatorial candidate, who has been actively campaigning for two years and running television spots for weeks, by single-digits.
The poll also indicates that Scott has great name identification. It reflects the fact that he has deep roots all across the state of South Dakota.
South Dakota voters are also buying into Heidepriem’s common sense message that state government is broken. Scott has made a strong, persuasive case that we need to change the way we do business in Pierre and South Dakotans from all political persuasions are validating his concerns.
